Harvest from Seeds Planted
August was a wonderful month in that I was able to see the fruit of fifteen years of involvement in one man’s life. This man has been an officer for many years with one of the police agencies with which I work. In January of this year, he called to say that he has never been a “religious” person. However, his life was unraveling and he was without hope. He wanted to talk.
We have been meeting weekly since then. Several weeks ago, after spending two hours together in a very deep Gospel presentation, this man, without fanfare, simply bowed his head, prayed, and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful “beginning” to something that actually began fifteen years earlier.
I asked him how long we had known each other. He reminded me of a time when I had come to his house after his father and stepmother had had a domestic dispute. The man sitting in front of me was only about fourteen at that time. He said I had taken him out for a Coke and had spent time with him all those years ago. I had forgotten, but he had not! I thank God as I see Him continue to put the pieces of the puzzle together, bringing to me people in whose hearts He is working.
