God’s Provision
God has provided food in ways that just continue to amaze me. Over the past months people have shared with us 300 pounds of onions; 100+ pounds of brown and red potatoes; 150 #10 cans of food; one whole beef; over 100 ears of freshly picked corn; bushels of peaches, apples, tomatoes and cucumbers; extra from home canning; money specifically for food; and more.
I am amazed at how God is also stretching food! I feel like we witness the feeding of the 5,000 on an almost daily basis. There have been many times when we have anticipated our family of seven plus a few extra, only to find out a few minutes before a meal that we are expecting more than double the number anticipated! With no time to make extra casseroles or anything, God has somehow managed to stretch the food to feed all the hungry workers (men, women and children) and still leave leftovers. Not once or twice, but many times has He done this.
One time when we were clearing the table after a large meal, Sara (our daughter) said, “Mommy, I know I only put one bowl of salad on the table, and they ate lots of salad, but look!” In front of her was a full bowl of salad! Some people pray before meals…we find ourselves praying after, as well, thanking God for stretching what He gave us to serve His people.
