Debby Anderson helps introduce children to biblical ideas as an author and illustrator of children’s books. She writes:

God desires for each of us to be reflections of His love and character, but it is in little children that we see the purest reflections of His love. Children are near and dear to Jesus. In His own words, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me” (Mark 9:37 NIV).

All across the United States, children are in crisis. As a missionary with American Missionary Fellowship, I am thankful to be part of a team of Christ-followers who are determined to become advocates for children. As a public-school kindergarten teacher, I am thankful for the beautiful children who daily remind me of God’s creativity and compassion. Over the years, I have rejoiced in the privilege of caring for children from over twenty-two different countries and eighteen different language groups.

With the encouragement of my husband, Gordon (AMF’s ministry director), my parents, my four children, and now my four grandchildren, I have been able to write and illustrate over twenty-five books. This is truly a miracle from the hand of God for an artist who used to trace around a quarter to draw a circle! God has a great sense of humor, and He delights in using our small gifts in a big way. As an author and illustrator of books for young children, I am thankful to have the opportunity to communicate God’s love and gift of salvation through literature.

As reflections of His love, let’s enthusiastically invest our best in the lives of children. “He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart” (Isaiah 40:11 NIV).

You can now support AMF while enjoying Debby’s work. Use the link on this page to buy one of her more than twenty-five books. AMF will receive a portion of any purchase you make, and you will have the joy of sharing God’s love with the children in your life.

Attic Books, a division of New Leaf Publishing, has just released a biography originally published by the ASSU in 1842. This book, Life of George Washington by Anna C. Reed, emphasizes the faith walk of our nation’s first president.

The new edition preserves the formatting and spellings of the original, so it maintains the flavor of the historical ASSU production. It would make a great Christmas gift for anyone interested in the history of our nation or in AMF’s publishing heritage.

Click on the Attic Books icon on this site to receive a 20% discount on any New Leaf book and to help the mission, which receives a portion of every sale that originates from our site, no matter which books are purchased. Once the New Leaf website loads, type “Life of Washington” in the Quick Find box at the top left of the site to find our book.
